Medication Not to Take Before Surgical Procedure or Biopsy

TO: All patients undergoing any surgical procedure or biopsy:

Below is a list of medications which may cause bleeding. Therefore, these medications should be stopped at least one week before your procedure or biopsy. These medications generally are used for pain and/or arthritis. The best medication to use for pain and arthritis is Tylenol, with or without Codeine, during the week preceding your procedure or biopsy.

The medications listed below all contain aspirin or similar compounds which affect the ability to form clots. It is only a partial list.
