Vasectomy Pre-operative Instructions Make every effort to keep your appointment since the time required for this procedure has been reserved for you. If you are unable to keep your appointment for any reason please call our office to cancel. We appreciate your consideration. Stop taking aspirin, ibuprophen, Aleve, or any other blood thinning medication one week prior to your surgery. Shave all hair from the scrotum and around the base of the penis on the evening before or the morning of your procedure. Do not use an electric razor. After shaving, thoroughly wash the penis and scrotum; then shower or bathe to remove all loose hair. If you can do so, get someone to drive you to and from. the hospital/office, although this is not essential unless you have been prescribed medications to take before your procedure. Wear loose fitting clothing to the office such as sweat pants and a T-shirt (wear a sweatshirt or comfortable sweater over your T-shirt in colder weather). Bring a large sized scrotal suspensory (jock strap) with you to put on after the procedure. These may be purchased at most pharmacies. Associated Urologists 5140 N.
